Fredericton’s young entrepreneur, Spencer Murgatroyd, knows exactly where her favourite place in the city is to have fun, and on November 9th, she’ll be on TV to show the rest of Canada.
Spencer invited CBC’s Cross Country Fun Hunt host, Jordan Francis (“Camp Rock 2,” “Connor Undercover“), and the “Cross Country Fun Hunt” crew to visit her at the Fredericton Region Museum where she operates her own business during the summer months. Dressed in a Loyalist costume, she shared a refreshing cup of homemade iced tea and a cookie with Jordon and then gave him a tour of the museum exhibits.
Spencer is an ambitious young Frederictonian with a keen interest in local history. Her fascination with the museum’s “Fredericton’s Loyalists” exhibit led her to examine the story of the Ingraham family more in depth. The Ingraham’s were Loyalists who settled in Fredericton in 1783. Spencer portrays the character of a young 11-year old Hannah Ingraham while serving tea and cookies in her tea place on the museum balcony.
“The iced tea is so refreshing on a hot summer’s day, and is something I think Hannah would have enjoyed,” explained Spencer who was selected to appear on the show after submitting an invitation for Jordon to visit her at the museum.
Cross Country Fun Hunt airs Saturday at 9:30 a.m. on CBC, and kids can still nominate their favourite spots for fun at cbc.ca/kids/games/funhunt. The episode featuring Spencer’s Surprise Visit will air on CBC’s Cross Country Fun on Saturday, November 10th, at 9:30 am (10am in Newfoundland and Labrador).
Kids who sign up their hometown on our Fun Hunt interactive map (www.funhunt) by October 31st, 2012 have a chance to win an iPod Touch and they will have a chance to be nominated to host the Fun Hunt concert featuring Victoria Duffield (“Shut Up and Dance”). They just have to encourage their friends to create Fredericton as a destination on the Fun Hunt Map. The larger presence Fredericton has on the map, the better the chance it has to be nominated as a concert destination. On December 1st, the votes will be tallied and the hometown to host the Fun Hunt Concert decided.
